If you identify as a woman* 18 years of age or up and are looking for an opportunity to compete in a sport with a group of women who have diverse interests, occupations, lived experiences, and who share a passion for fitness, teamwork, and paddling, then the Schuylkill Dragons might be a good match for you.
*We welcome all paddlers who identify as women or gender non-binary to join the team, practice, train with us, and race when competition rules allow. Race participation related to gender identity will be dictated by competition rules which the team is required to follow.
We’re a women’s dragon boat team in Philadelphia, PA. (Wait … What the heck is dragon boating?) No previous experience is required. All training will be provided by our highly qualified coaches.

Team Options
Our team has two divisions: those paddlers who are Competitive and those who are Fit. Competitive paddlers typically attend more races and more practices and are expected to maintain a competitive level of fitness. “Fitness” paddlers tend to participate more recreationally. Everyone is welcome to practice and to sign up for races. Coaches are responsible for seating paddlers for racing based on a number of factors such as skill, fitness level, and boat balance. Training
On Season
The Schuylkill Dragons offer practices multiple days a week to accommodate as many schedules as possible. The emphasis of these practices is technique and race fitness. Members are also encouraged to work out on their own to build strength and overall fitness.
Off Season
The Schuylkill Dragon coaches encourage year-round fitness for team members. Winter training plans are offered by the team and members are expected to train in the off season.
